The A6 Alliance Steering Board Meeting in Brussels

On 15 October 2024, the A6 Alliance Steering Board held its third meeting in Brussels, Belgium. The Board discussed the most important issues related to the relationship between the operational stakeholders and the Network Manager, the update of the ATM masterplan and required planning activities, the achievements of SESAR deployment and the future of SESAR beyond 2027. Particularly, the A6 partners identified areas of improvement for more efficient and resilient airspace network in summer 2025 and beyond.

The A6 Alliance welcomes the progress made in the European ATM Master Plan update. It continues to serve as a blueprint for making European airspace the most efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced in the world. It is crucial to find the best way in order to realistically implement it especially with due consideration of the activities already ongoing, the limited capacity for adding additional tasks to the list of ANSPs duties and the need to face performance improvements for RP4. Therefore, the Board explored the path forward for SESAR beyond 2027. A robust debate took place on future-proof role that SESAR and its partnership approach as the technological pillar of the Single European Sky plays in the modernisation of ATM and on the need to ensure continued support from the EU for that major aim. As the ATM stakeholders, the A6 Alliance wants to continue playing a leading role in the governance and management and working level of the SESAR Research and Innovation and Deployment activities post-2027.

The meeting was further enriched by insights from invited guests, including high level representatives from the European Commission, SESAR Deployment Manager and SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking.

The A6 Alliance remains committed at providing customer value through improving the ATM performance at European Network level and increasing the pace as well as the degree of implementation of SES.
