FAA and A6 collaborating for a better future for aviation

A meeting took place between representatives of the A6 and the FAA at the CANSO AGM in Rome this June. The aim of the meeting was to agree a framework to collaborate on future ATM systems on both sides of the Atlantic and to define areas where the two organisations could work together.

On the agenda were best practice on the introduction of new technology, implementation, programme management and lifecycle management, priorities such as DataComms and agreeing an ANSP approach for engaging with CNS/ATM infrastructure manufacturers.

The meeting was a success and the two parties agreed to extend the list of topics for future discussion to include the funding and financial structures of NextGen and SESAR and the assessment of planning system testing, deployment and training.

This co-operation is seen on both sides of the Atlantic as a great opportunity to share techniques and strategies to improve and speed up the modernisation of the ATM infrastructure in both the US and Europe.

The A6 alliance and FAA are firmly convinced that the aviation community will benefit from such co-operation in terms of efficiency, cost, less environmental impact and above all a better service for airlines and passengers.
